Women of the Bible
A.Spangler/J.Syswerda
“She (Eve) came into the world perfectly at peace with her God, and her husband... she and her husband were banished from Paradise and the presence of God... her first son was a murderer... her second son the victim.” Yet “God had promised her offspring would eventually destroy her enemy.” (Page 17)
This book is designed as a yearly devotional, focusing on the lives of 52 women of the Bible. Each woman’s story includes Scripture reference texts, and a sensitive, creative way to relate more deeply to each woman’s situation. Above, I’ve chosen excerpts from Eve’s story. As an overview, authors Ann and Jean provide a brief, but essential look into the woman’s character, sorrow and joy. The reader is immediately brought into ‘her world’, therefore the detailed daily readings, questions, Bible study and prayers have a more intimate impact.
These stories have broadened my understanding of Bible times, and offered a new way to view women of Scripture. I’ve learned more about the nature of my own heart through my reactions to these very human and special women.
